We previously reported that the court heard that the Harpers and their family were asked to leave at midnight as the pub had shut.

Prosecutor Lauren Aitchison said there was a “disagreement of sorts of about leaving.”

She said: “During the disturbance, Mr Di Paola ended up on top of Stuart Harper.

“Caroline Harper repeatedly punched Mr Di Paola to the head and body.”

Caroline Harper then took Mr Di Paola to the ground.

Miss Aitchison added: “Morrison became involved and assaulted Mr Di Paola by punching him to the head while he was on the way to the ground.

“He went back on three separate occasions to punch Mr Di Paola on the head and body while on the ground.”

The attackers fled the scene and Mr Di Paola was taken to hospital.

He was found to have suffered a wound to the bridge of his nose which was treated and will leave him with a permanent scar.

Mr Di Paola also sustained bruises to his face and eye area.

Linda Findlay, defending Harper, told the court: "She accepts full responsibility for her actions during the incident. "She has expressed regret and embarrassment and has given insight on the impact on the victim because of this incident. "Her full-time employment is now in jeopardy because of this incident."

Des Ziolo, defending Morrison, stated that his client's senior role at DHL has been reduced with his employment at the company also at risk.

The lawyer said of the new dad: "He does not shy away that he caused the worst of the victim's injuries. "He is embarrassed and has caused embarrassment to his family."
